Chants of "Piqué, Piqué!" in response to the whistles
The Spain fans at the Bernabéu for the World Cup Qualifier against Italy were divided in their support for Barcelona player Piqué.

Piqué was cheered by large numbers of Spain fans at the Bernabéu for the World Cup Qualifier against Italy, in response to other fans who whistled the Barcelona player, as has become habitual at many grounds around Spain.

Before the match a number of Spanish players, including Ramos and Carvajal, had pleaded with the fans not to jeer Piqué, and their message appeared to have been heeded when Piqué's name was cheered when it was read out in the run up to the game.
However, with Piqué's first touch, numerous Spain fans whistled him vociferously, although this was met rapidly with chants of "Piqué, Piqué!!" in response.
