Spain's coach added that it is "the players who set the team's style" and rued Busquets getting a booking when the team was not under pressure.

Julen Lopetegui attended Movistar+ after watching his Spain side put eight past Liechtenstein in last night's 2018 World Cup qualifier. "There is a big different between our national teams and we basically were able to do what we set out to do on the pitch. We wanted to put in a serious performance and kill the game off as early as possible... Ramos' goal got us off to the start we wanted and a second goal followed soon afterwards - that gave us the ease to play the kind of game we wanted to play. Scoring in the opening minute always takes the pressure off. It helped to set us on our way", the coach explained.

Busquets booking the only downside of the night

"It's easy to get these kinds of game wrong, and not have enough rhythm from the start... If you get that wrong you could find yourself surprised. The black note of the night was Busquets' booking, but we had a lot of other players who are one card away from suspension so in the scheme of things it could have been worse... What's annoying is that it happened when were under no pressure at all".

System: "It's not the first time we have used this system. In certain games we have to find solutions in attack. We have two or three different formations that work for us without having to change our style. In any case it is the players who set the style".

Every member of the squad has a part to play, says Lopetegui

Iago Aspas: "All of the players are gaining in playing time and confidence; they know that they will get their chance to play and that's a positive thing. It would have been nice to have given some of the others a run-out. Those who have been with us for the last 10 days but haven't played have helped us a lot in other ways and I'd like to single them out as an equally important  part of the group. I'm delighted with the attitude the players have shown".

Great result: "They tell me it's the biggest win in Spain's history but the most important thing tonight was gaining all three points. We knew it wasn't going to be an easy game for us - when we played Liechtenstein at home, we only had a 1-0 lead by the break - that's the kind of situation which can quickly become complicated, like what happened to France against Luxembourg. Luckily for us, we were efficient in front of goal".
