Garbiñe, the World's No.1: "I've dreamt about this moment"

Garbiñe Muguruza couldn't be happier after hearing the news that she is to be named the new world number one when the ranking is announced later this week. The 23-year-old was at home in Geneva watching the  Karolina Pliskova vs Coco Vandeweghe game with her mother and brother when the news came through.

Birthday wish comes true for Muguruza

“I'm very excited to be able to share with all of you, my dream, becoming the next world No.1 on Monday. I would never have been in this position without the help of my family, my team and my fans. Like I said before it's like a dream come true. I must say this is a very special time for me. You always dream about this moment but it's something you like to save for yourself. Every birthday, you blow out your candles and your wish is always the same - to be the best. And now that moment has arrived”, Garbiñe, who is preparing for the final tournaments of the season in Tokyo, Wuhan and Beijing, said last night.
