José Antonio Reyes has confirmed that he is to move to the Chinese Super League (CSL), with the winger set to join Shanghai Shenhua.
‘La Perla’, 34, has been a free agent since leaving Espanyol at the end of last season, where he scored four goals in 23 appearances.
Reyes would link up with Carlos Tévez, Obafemi Martins, Freddy Guarín and Demba Ba at Shenhua, who are managed by ex-Real Betis coach Gus Poyet.
Reyes: "It’s almost done"
In an interview with Gol TV on Friday, Reyes said that his switch to China is on the verge of completion.
"It's almost done and I will go to play in China. There are still some minor details to resolve but the next two years I will play there," explained Reyes.
This move will be Reyes’ third experience abroad, having also played for Premier League club Arsenal and Portuguese side Benfica.
In the two years he spent with the Gunners, the team won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
He has made over 300 career LaLiga appearances across spells at Sevilla (twice), Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Espanyol.
