Gareth Bale says Bernabéu whistles are normal in football

After scoring a trademark sprint and tidy finish against Real Sociedad, the Welshman spoke to Spanish TV about his playing style and being whistled by fans.

Gareth Bale spoke to Spanish channel Movistar Partidazo after Real Madrid's 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad, and the Welshman was asked (in English) about his preferred playing style as well as his feelings over being whistled at the Santiago Bernabéu. He was also reminded of his incredible six goals in six games at Anoeta.

Madrid back winning and crowd whistles

"It's great to always score [at Anoeta], but the most important was the three points, to get back on track, and back to winning ways.”

Real Madrid's Gareth Bale outsprints Kévin Rodrigues in his run towards Real Sociedad's goal.

Regarding the Madrid fans whistling him in home games for perceived poor performances he replied:

“It is normal, it happens in football. I just keep my head down and keep working hard. That is all I can do, I cannot control what goes on, just my own game. You have ups and downs in your career, it is about how you bounce back."

Bale lifts the ball superbly over the onrushing Rulli.

Various styles of play open to Bale

Bale scored a fantastic goal, his side's third, running 70 metres into space and then dinking the ball over the closing goalkeeper, Rulli. Asked if runs into the space like tonight was the way he preferred to play he disagreed:

"It was a great goal, but I can play in different ways."
