Diego Costa is en route to Spain to complete his transfer to Atlético de Madrid. The striker spoke to reporters at São Paulo airport, where he sent a farewell message to Chelsea fans and spoke about his strained relationship with Blues manager Antonio Costa.
Costa says he has no axe to grind with Conte
"I'm not angry with anyone. I do not feel any bitterness or resentment towards anybody, everything's fine", Costa explained when Splash News asked him about his feelings towards the Chelsea coach. One of the reasons why Costa was keen to move away from Stamford Bridge, according to the British media, was down to a falling-out with Conte.
Costa declares his love for Chelsea fans
Costa did not join the Chelsea squad to complete the pre-season and nor did he did start the team's Premier League campaign. He has spent his time annexed from the squad back home with his family in Brazil where he has remained until he managed to gain his wish and seal his return to Atlético de Madrid. "Everyone knows how much I love the fans", was his personal goodbye message to Chelsea supporters.
