Atlético Madrid plan on devising a specific plan for Diego Costa after a deal was announced on Thursday to ensure he is fighting fit when he makes his debut for the club in January. The former Chelsea striker knows perfectly well how demanding Diego Simeone can be and what his style of play entails and are not concerned with the Spanish striker lacking fitness after the Christmas holidays. Costa's new teammates are hardly concerned either with many praising their newest addition on social media.
The striker has three months to be ready. Three months until his debut in January in the best possible condition possible. He could do so on January 3rd in the Copa or on January 6th (date to be confirmed) against Getafe in a Madrid derby. At present, there are no plans to schedule a friendly in order to facilitate minutes for the 28-year-old. He will not travel either in an effort to get fit. Training, training and more training and Atletico want to integrate him into the squad as soon as possible.
Also, the belief is that watching him train could encourage the other members of the squad to push themselves. The player, too, wants to start training with the club as soon as possible.
