Piqué casts referendum vote: "It's disgraceful what's happening"
The Barcelona player, who feels that the Catalunya region has the right to decide on a referendum, voted at the education centre in Sant Just Desvern.
Gerard Piqué, who stated a few days ago that citizens in the region should have the right to decide in today's referendum on Catalan independence, turned up this morning to cast his vote at a polling station at the education centre in Sant Just Desvern, close to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Tension in Catalunya
The Barça player said of events in the Condal City as tensions flared over the course of the weekend: "What's happening is disgraceful" and explained that the decision as to whether Barcelona's league game against Las Palmas should go ahead will be discussed. "We'll see what happens. We'll talk about it in the dressing room and see what they decide to do". Barcelona called an emergency meeting this morning to decide if it would be better to postpone the match after disturbances in the city. The player posted a photograph on his personal Twitter account with the message: "I've just voted. Together, we will not be stopped in our defence of democracy".
