Zaza’s finest moment so far this season came on September 19 in Mestalla, when he hit a hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Málaga. The striker will be presented with his trophy in Valencia’s stadium before the match against Sevilla on Saturday so that he can share it with the home fans.

In Segunda División, the monthly award went to Valladolid forward Jaime Mata, who scored four goals and assisted another two as the Pucelanos rose up to sixth in the table and into the playoff places.
