Lothar Matthäus attacks Carlo Ancelotti for his tweet

Lothar Matthäus y Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian coach sent an innocent message on Twitter about being at Stamford Bridge for the Chelsea-Roma match but the German legend was quick to jump on it.

Carlo Ancelotti is currently out of the managerial game having parted company a few weeks ago with Bayern Munich. The Italian coach used his free time to attend a Champions League match, specifically that of his former club, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The game between The Blues and Roma (another team close to Ancelotti's heart after playing for them from 1979 to 1987) ended 3-3.

That evening, the Italian put an innocent message on his official Twitter account that said: "It's a pleasure to return to Stamford Bridge to enjoy a great Champions match."

But what he could not have expected was that this tweet would be used against him, and worse, from a legend of German football. Lothar Matthäus, now commentator on Sky in Germany, responded to the tweet in an attack on the manager's poor results at the helm of Bayern Munich: "It's not your fault you couldn't attend a beautiful Bayern Munich game," read the reply.

On the back of this provocation, Sky added more wood to the fire with the message: "Matthäus 1-0 Ancelotti".
