Despite the inflated prices, Madrid derby is a sell-out
Despite the cheapest ticket starting at 70 euro with prices rising to 495, the first Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitano is sold-out.
Preparations at the Wanda Metropolitano are ongoing ahead of Saturday's first ever Madrid derby at Atleti's new ground. If a derby in the Spanish capital is a special occasion, then there is added interest in Saturday's game with no match tickets left for the big game. Recent derbies have always seen a limited quantity of the more expensive tickets remaining un-sold but with this derby being Atleti's first at the Wanda, fans have been anxious not to miss the historical occasion unfold from the stand.
Atleti fan-clubs from all over Spain are expected to converge in the capital for the game and this despite the recent poor performance's from Cholo Simeone's men.
Champions League exit?
The last official match at the Wanda Metropolitano saw Atletico struggle against Qarabag on October 31 and the 1-1 draw see's Simeone's side needing a miracle to advance in the Champions League. The time between games and the international break have also enabled stadium operatives to implement improvements in and around the ground which has seen a general visible progression with the passing of each home game.
With a sizeable quantity of Real Madrid supporters expected on Saturday, the derby will be the first stern test for the security procedure at the new San Blas located ground with another test anticipated the following week when Atleti face AS Roma in what looks set to be the final group stage game in the 2017/18 Champions League at home.
