The captains of both Barcelona and Juventus, Andres Iniesta and Gianluigi Buffon, have rejected the idea that they are afraid of retirement and say they can both look back with pride on their respective careers. Buffon could retire at the end of the current season and Iniesta says he will keep going provided his body endures.
In a streamed conversation organised by Barcelona's media department, the two players came face-to-face and discussed many aspets of football before their clash in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
"As long as my body holds up," said Iniesta about how long he intends to play for. "I am not afraid to leave it, everything in life has a limit and an end," he explained as the reality of a Barcelona side without the manchego in midfield gets closer.
As for Buffon, he is pretty sure he will retire at the end of the season, "I'm very sure, I'm calm. It's good that I have a future, I have a lot of curiosity about life and leaving football doesn't scare me. I wouldn't like to be a puppet or an ignoramus, whatever thing that I do, I will be ready," said the legendary Italian and Juvenus goalkeeper.
