Bale returns but Asensio out of Real Madrid squad injured

The Welsh winger returned to the fray a little after Zinedine Zidane had stated, while Sergio Ramos also took part with the protection of a face mask.

His return came one day later than expected, but Gareth Bale has returned to training with Real Madrid. ZIdane also confirmed the club statement on Marco Asensio's injury that means the young star may not be available for nearly two weeks.

Bale back ahead of Málaga visit

Zinedine Zidane had told the press on Tuesday that his Welsh winger would take part in the session on Thursday, but in the end he had to wait until the final session before Madrid's match against Málaga at the Bernabéu.

Bale has not played since picking up a calf injury in September, and his initial attempt to return to action was curtailed by a hamstring complaint.

Bale returns to Real Madrid training, Asensio absent

Asensio out, Ramos back

Yet while one wide man returned, another was absent. Marco Asensio did not train on Thursday or Friday, and he will not return to fitness in time for the visit of Málaga. The club issued the following statement:

"Following tests carried out on Marco Asensio by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical team, he has been diagnosed with an external obturator injury on the right leg. His recovery will be monitored."

Resident contributor to AS, Dr José González, confirmed that the player is "likely to be back playing in two to three weeks". This would mean that as well as Saturday's Málaga game, the young Spaniard will also miss the league game against Athletic Bilbao and the Copa del Rey second leg against Fuenlabrada.

The man in the mask, Ramos

Sergio Ramos, however, was out on the turf at Valdebebas. The captain did not join the main on Thursday and like Asensio, Saturday's match will come too soon for him.

Ramos suffered a broken nose in the derbi madrileño against Atlético last weekend and wore a protective mask during training.
