The two-time African Player of the Year has engaged in a series of activities in the ongoing African Union-European Union Summit.

Former Ivorian international Didier Drogba met with French President, Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the 5th African Union (A.U.) and European Union (E.U.) Summit currently underway in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Drogba, 39, is featuring in a series of activities that are ongoing across the two-day Summit between African and European leaders.

Among other activities, the two-time African Player of the Year is shooting adverts, engaging in advocacy and participating in meetings.

Investing in the youth for a sustainable future

The theme of the A.U.-E.U. summit is to invest “in the youth for a sustainable future”.

According to AfricaNews, Drogba has held meetings with officials from both Africa and Europe, presenting a common position on youth challenges.

The former Marseille and Chelsea ace supports the Youth Plug-In Initiative, which brings together 18 Europeans and 18 Africans to act as youth ambassadors in the ongoing Summit.

These ambassadors will present their ideas to improve the futures of Africans and Europeans alike to global leaders at the Summit.

However, aside from youth issues, the attending Heads of State are expected to discuss migration, with the slave-market in Libya being a main concern.

Security and terrorism are also to be discussed in the Summit.
