Real Madrid's Costa Rica international was elected the best player in the North, Central American and Caribbean region alongside Alex Morgan.

Keylor Navas has been named as Concacaf player of the year, winning the award for a second time after also earning the accolade in 2014.

The jury, comprised of the captains and coaches of the North, Central American and Caribbean Football Association, along with journalists and fans, pointed to the Costa Rica keeper’s exceptional season during which he helped Real Madrid to the Liga and Champions League titles and played a key part in his country’s qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

Navas: "This award is a great motivation for me"

Navas beat Hirving Lozano (PSV Eindhoven) and Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union) to the award and replaces Bryan Ruiz (Sporting Lisbon), who won the award last year.

“I would like to express my gratitude for giving me the chance to win this award and I’m grateful from my heart to all those people who voted for me to make this a reality. This award is a great motivation to me in my career in my life and it fills me with pride to win it,” Navas told Concacaf’s official media representatives.

Alex Morgan wins third women's player award

Alex Morgan picked up the award for women’s player of the year for a third time and a second in a row after helping Lyon to the treble last season of Champions League, Ligue 1 and French Cup.
