Real Madrid target Kepa out for a month after foot injury

The medical team at Athletic Bilbao have confirmed that their number one goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, will not be playing for a few more weeks.

Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Keiza Arrizabalaga could be out of action for three to four weeks due to the injury to his right foot that prevented him from playing against Real Sociedad on Saturday. The talented San Mamés stopper has been heavily linked with a big move to Real Madrid, potentially during the January transfer window.

Metatarsal injury for Kepa

The medical team at the club confirmed the goalkeeper's injury on Monday:

"The tests carried out showed an incomplete fracture, produced by repetitive micro-trauma, at the base of the second metatarsal of the right foot".

Kepa was watching from the stands as Athletic hosted La Real.

According to Dr González, AS's medical expert, it is a fracture that has come about from "stress, over extension, abuse or overuse". He added that this type of injury can usually mean a period of three to four weeks out of the game.

If Madrid are still keen to move for the player, this injury is unlikely to change their strategy.
