Diego Simeone believe Atlético Madrid need to make keeping Jan Oblak at the club next season a priority. This is what the Argentina coach has told directors at one of the club's meetings amongst coaches and leaders. Simeone believes it to be of utmost importance and has asked Gíl Marin and Enrique Cerezo to make sure they do their best to keep him in Madrid. The biggest clubs in Europe are attentive to Oblak's situation at Atlético with a contract until 2021 and a release clause of €100 million. Atlético are hoping, however, that they have the chance to up that release clause with a new contract for the player.
PSG and Oblak's name have been mentioned in the same sentence for quite some time now although in France, they believe the Parisien club are not candidates to sign the player. AC Milan's Donnarumma is believed to be their first choice but Oblak's excellence against Chelsea has alerted the Premier League to the Slovenian and what he can do.
Oblak himself has said he would play one more year with the club before sitting down and figuring out his future but Atlético Madrid are trying to do everything to make sure they keep him in the squad. The players know they have one of the best goalkeepers in the world and with him between the sticks, anything is possible.
Due to the position Atlético Madrid are in, sitting in second place behind Barcelona, nobody wants to upset the flow of the team. There have been very few rumours coming from the dressing room and there is a sense of tranquility amongst the players. Once the bigger teams see a chance, however, they will do everything they can to lure Oblak out of the Wanda Metropolitano.
