The former Chelsea striker said he is not interested in following the steps of Liberia’s president-elect George Weah.

Former Ivorian international, Didier Drogba said in an interview with AFP he has no political ambition in Ivory Coast.

Drogba, currently engaged in humanitarian work and in various charitable activities, stated that a person could impact on their societies apart from politics.

Drogba rejects Weah’s proposal

The twice African Footballer of the Year responded to Liberia’s president-elect, George Weah, invitation to follow his path.

“It’s not necessarily the case that all footballers will want to become president. George has opened the way for him to make an impact in his own way, and others can make an impact on their communities in other ways,” Drogba said.

“He has been a model for me for a long time. He has been a big brother also for a long time and what he has done today shows that in the labor force, with perseverance, we can achieve our objectives and to realize our dreams for the good of the community.”

The former Olympique de Marseille and Chelsea star is the head of Didier Drogba Foundation, which provides financial and material support in both health and education to people in Africa.
