The Seedorf effect at Depor: new routines and new captain

Double training sessions, meals together and staying in a hotel pre games at home and away are just some of the initial changes drafted in by the Dutch coach.

Clarence Seedorf has arrived in A Coruña full of drive and desire to address the Galician sides free-fall towards Segunda. The Dutch coach claimed in his presentation that Depor could be saved and already has started making his presence felt at the Abegondo training centre with his initial task being to reinstall morale to a squad that are now lodged in the relegation zone. His first change has been to amend the squad's schedule with the introduction of double daily training sessions morning and again in the evening. He's also anxious for the player to spend more time together and has decreed that lunch will be held together as a squad in the hotel Meliá María Pita. The plan is for the squad to spend the night together in a hotel irrespective if the game is home or away.

Seedorf is also debating if a change of team captain would be of benefit. At present top of the pecking order are Mosquera, Borges, Sidnei, Juanfran and Navarro but the coach has opted to get to know the players better before deciding if an armband change is necessary.

Seedorf spent over 30 minutes with the players before yesterday's training session and outlined his ideas and expressed his demands from his players. He later spent time talking to both Schär and later Romanian Florin Andone in one-to-one sessions.

Depor's first test under the 41-year-old coach will be held at Riazor on Monday when Real Betis are the visitor's to the Galician city.
