Justin Kluivert: "Who am I to say 'no' to Real Madrid?"

Justin Kluivert: "Who am I to say 'no' to Real Madrid?"

Justin Kluivert, Ajax's teenage ace is not closing any doors: "My heart is set on Barcelona but... England would be nice too".

Justin Kluivert, the teenage son of former Barça player Patrick and one of the most promising young players to be emerging in Europe, has opened up about how he sees his future and says he is keeping his options open.

More young players going abroad

"Nowadays, it is seen as normal for players to move abroad at the start of their careers. But whether you make that move early on or later, I think it's different for everyone and very much depends on what kind of person you are. If you are good enough, you'll make it, which ever route you decide to take", the 18-year-old Kluivert told Helden.

His father's track record, in which he led Barça attack between 1998 and 2004, could influence where Justin Kluivert decides to move next but he insists he is not in the position to rule anything out - even if Real Madrid come knocking: “My heart is set on Barcelona but... England would be nice too. England certainly attracts me - Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester United are all great clubs where I could see myself playing in a few years' time…”.

Mourinho passes on his regards

United have been linked a number of times with the talented young striker - rumpurs were further fuelled when Mourinho took time out to speak to Justin after last year's Europa League final in which he was an unused sub. Mourinho knows Patrick Kluivert from the time they spent at Barcelona in the late 90s. "He said that it was nice to see me and that he couldn't believe how much I'd grown and that I was doing a good job.  He also asked me to pass on his best regards to my Dad", Justin explained.

Dad lets me decide

As for what the future holds, Justin says he happily receives advice from his father but his parents don't interfere when it comes down to him making decisions of his own. “Agents let you know about the various possibilities but it's down to me to take decisions; my Dad doesn't interfere, because he knows that I don't really like that".
