Real Madrid's victory over PSG in the Champions League left Parisian Valentine spirits well and truly dampened. Much of the anger and disappointment was pointed towards the figure of manager Unai Emery, and not just from the fans in the stadium; some of those close to the players also made their opinions felt. This included the wives of Ángel Di María and Thiago Silva.
Di Maria and Silva shown Bernabéu bench
Jorgelina Cardoso and Isabelle Silva, wife of the Argentine winger and Brazilian defender respectively, are two women who say what they think and had no hesitation to share their views with the world on Wednesday evening. Both posted comments that made it clear they were not in agreement with the manager's decisions, something that has not gone down well at the millionaires club in the French capital.
The first to attack was Silva, although, as you'll see, she chose a more indirect form than Cardoso:
"Tactical, tactical, what is the tactic? Aff ...," she wrote on an image and broadcast via her Instagram account. She later decided to delete this.
All that effort and no Di Maria pitch time
Di Maria's wife was less subtle and made her point very much at the PSG manager. Also on Instagram, Cardoso published a video in featuring the couple's little son looking bored with the supporting words referring to his dad being on the bench. And she didn't leave it there...
The Argentine followed that up with words about the work and committment shown by her husband, with a sense of injustice at how he was being treated:
"Your efforts, plus your extra work, plus your goals, plus your assists, plus your best moment, equals the bench.
"But it's women who don't understand football," she continued, a jagged questioning of Emery's decisions, before concluding with "Allez Paris".
Neither Di Maria nor Silva were brought on in the first leg and now Emery has big calls to make ahead of the return fixture.
