Gaitán has signed for Dalian on a three-year deal, with Atlético receiving an 18-million-euro fee for the former Boca Juniors and Benfica player.
Having missed Atleti training to complete a medical with the CSL outfit on Monday morning, the 29-year-old is expected to travel to China in the coming hours.
Carrasco was also absent from the LaLiga club's first session of the week as he gets ready to follow Gaitán to Dalian after the clubs agreed a 30-million-euro deal for the Belgium international.
Carrasco made 124 appearances for Atlético, scoring 23 goals. As his playing time has been reduced this season, the 24-year-old preferred the option of a fresh start in the CSL with the World Cup on the horizon.
Gaitán played 42 times for Atlético and scored four times.
Atleti begin Leganés preparations after Sevilla win
Fresh from beating Sevilla on Sunday, Atlético began preparations for Wednesday's LaLiga clash at Leganés, with just seven players - Vitolo, Fernando Torres, Juanfran, Ángel Correa, Kevin Gameiro, Axel Werner and Miguel Ángel Moyá - taking part in training at Los Rojiblancos' Majadahonda base.
The starters in the 5-2 league win at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán remained in the gym, while defenders Lucas Hernández and Stefan Savic were not involved as they continue their injury recoveries.
