Juan Ramón López Muñiz’s tenure at Levante came to an end on Sunday as the Ciutat de Valencia board elected to sack the 49-year-old with the side a single point above the relegation zone.
A 1-1 home draw against Espanyol, who equalized in stoppage time through Leo Baptistão, proved the final straw for Muñiz, who joined The Frogs in 2016 and led them to promotion to Primera División as Segunda champions last season.

The club announced on Sunday in a statement on their official website that Muñiz had been relieved of his duties.
After a decent start to the season when Levante went the opening five games unbeaten in recent months things have taken a downward turn and Muñiz had failed to inspire his side to victory in LaLiga since a 2-0 victory over fellow relegation strugglers Las Palmas on November 19, a sequence of 15 games without a win up to Sunday’s draw.
Reserve side coach Paco López has been installed as caretaker until the end of the season.
