The Manchester United manager will pocket 475.000 euros a day giving his expert insights into the action at this summer's World Cup finals as a TV pundit.

José Mourinho will be taking a keen interest in this summer's World Cup finals. The Manchester United manager has been hired by Russian television RT to provide his typically adroit and insightful analysis of the action at the tournament as a pundit in their Moscow studio, the broadcaster announced today.

Nice little earner

And the extra work will be a lucrative bonus for the United boss, who will be earning even more than Leo Messi at the tournament, according to reports in England. The Daily Mail reports that Mou has signed a contract for 1.9 million euros for four days' work, starting from the opening ceremony.

So Mourinho, who once admitted that he gets restless when football stops in the pre-season, will earn a daily rate of 475,000 euros during his time at the finals. He will also be offering punditry at the end of the tournament via a satellite link-up so he will have no need to be in Russia. In the meantime, he plans to use his free time to relax with his family and enjoy the action as a normal spectator.

With his side-work, he will be earning more per hour than Leo Messi earns at Barcelona. Messi, the world's best paid footballer, has a 40 million euro salary, which puts his daily earnings at 110,000 euros.

Mou on air at 2018 Russia

"I am very happy to join the team at RT. I am looking forward to attending the World Cup in Russia this summer and sharing my insights into the games", Mourinho explained.

Mourinho is the second well-known gigure from the football world to have signed up with RT to cover World Cup Russia. Former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel will be in the studio to give his pre and post-match views .

This summer's 2018 World Cup finals take place from 14 June to 15 July.
