The Argentine national squad can be sure of a noisy support as they take to the field against Spain at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid. Ahead of the game a huge group of Albiceleste supporters were making themselves heard.
No Messi, but 12th man is here
Despite it being a home game for Spain in their capital city, Higuain, Macherano and co. could be mistaken for thinking they're walking out in Buenas Aires. The South American clubs have a strong representation in their host's country and fans of River Plate, Boca Juniors, Talleres, Belgrano, Racing, to name but a few, gathered outside the stadium to sing songs of encouragement to their heroes.
You can get excited about Spain v Argentina here, with Matt. Who's lived and strutted his stuff on the 5-a-side pitches in both countries. https://t.co/hRPDliRsmE— AS English (@English_AS) 27 March 2018
Various social media channels had coordinated the supporter groups to meet up at the exit of the stadium's nearby metro station and one of the most notable chants being sung by the combined group were praising “de la mano de Leo Messi, la vuelta vamos a dar”, which effectively means with Messi at the helm, we will conquer the world.
Can this vocal support take the place of the mercurial Barça star who, disappointingly for the fans, will be absent from tonight's proceedings.
