The Uruguayan striker had not scored in the Champions League since Barça's remarkable comeback against PSG last season.

Luis Suárez ended a Champions League goal drought as Barça eased past Roma to place one foot in the Champions League semi-finals.

Suárez had gone almost 1000 UCL minutes without a goal

The Uruguayan has scored 22 goals in 26 LaLiga matches this campaign, but had not found the net in the Champions League - a rut stretching 991 minutes.

Luis Suárez celebrates scoring against Roma.

Suárez's previous Champions League goal came last season, in the remarkable 6-1 victory over PSG in the last-16 that overturned a 4-0 defeat in the first leg in Paris.

Barcelona's other goals against Roma came from Gerard Piqué and two opposition players - De Rossi and Manolas - turning the ball in to their own net.
