Keylor Navas: There are few speaking about the signing of a new keeper as Navas is one of the best and he has Zidane's trust. Denied Costa in the first half and Koke in the second half with excellent saves.
Carvajal: Served well in defence and attack. Challenged Oblak on 42 and was really good with his crossing.
Varane: Had an intense afternnon with the speed of Griezmann and Costa's battling. The French defender was good on crosses. Oblak rejected him in the first half with a good chance.
Ramos: The captain suffered in the second half and was under pressure when Atletico got on top in the second half. In injury time, he nearly scored from a free-kick.
Marcelo: Distrated when defending, as always, but that's Marcelo. More of an attacker than a defender and might have been better to rest him and play Theo, who watched on from the bench.
Kovacic: Very good going backwards and pressure in the first half. Foiled Griezmann a couple of times and had a pain in his hip in the second half but recovered well. Replaced on 72 minutes by Modric.
Kroos: Should have had a penalty on 11 minutes when Juanfran fouled him. Controlled the centre of the field and did well to pull Thomas out of position. Played a full 90 minutes.
Lucas Vázquez: One of Real Madrid's best during the games. Explosive and always moving forward and looking for one-on-ones. Could have had a penalty in the first half when fouled by Lucas. Finished with a sore ankle and a booking after a dive in the penalty are in the second half.
Bale: Started the game across from Ronaldo as the striker but became a winger like he was against Las Palmas. Gave Ronaldo the assist for his goal. Played much better on the left than he did as a striker. Played very well in the second half.
Asensio: Hit the crossbar in the 11th minute. Played centrally and it was difficult to stand out against an Atletico side that like to and know how to control the middle.
Cristiano: Continues 2018 with an excellent tally of goals. 24 this year. Taken off in the 63rd minute. Had a shot stopped by Oblak in the first half too.
Benzema: Came on after 63 minutes and never troubled Oblak.
Isco: Came on for Asensio on 72 minutes and gave Real Madrid more options in front of Atletico's defence.
Modric: Brought on at the same time as Isco. Gave Real Madrid rythym in dangerous areas and will be fresh for Juventus on Wednesday.
