Following Sunday evening’s 2-1 victory over Málaga at La Rosaleda, Real Madrid returned to the Valdebebas training pitches on Monday and there were two pieces of good news for Zinedine Zidane.
Luka Modric, who sat out the trip to the south coast as a precaution after picking up a knock against Juventus, took full part in training and will be available for the visit of Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
The starters in La Rosaleda were given a recovery session ahead of the Athletic game, when Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, who were given Sunday off, are expected to return to the squad.
Nacho back in training
Also among the players out on the training pitches was Nacho, who is continuing his recovery from a thigh injury – the first absence of his professional career due to a physical problem.
The 28-year-old Spain international will not be available for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich and it is unlikely he will feature in the return either but his availability for the Liga run-in will be a source of contentment for Zidane, who has leaned on Nacho this season to fill in across the defence to cover for injuries, suspensions and rest periods for other players.
