The Argentina women's team are in fine sporting fettle at the moment, despite the problems caused by the trouble at the Argentinean FA, its debts and its struggles to pay wages meaning the side haven't trained properly in over a year.
Right now the Argentina women's side is playing in Women's Copa América in Chile and have booked their place at the Panamerican games in Peru 2019. And they will likely secure automatic qualification for the World Cup in France in 2019 and the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
Argentina women's players angry
But the players' joy on the pitch has been ruined off it, with the presentation of the new Argentina kit. The women's team were enraged to discover that while Lionel Messi and Ángel Di María were chosen to present the men's kit, the women's was presented by models instead of the players.
One of the models, Alexia Ortiz, posted the following on Instagram, saying "We're playing a top match at Leo's home ground".
Goalkeeper Lauchi Oliveros reacted angrily on Twitter: "And the players from the women's team? Should it not be us who are presenting the shirt? EMBARRASSING".
¿Y las jugadoras de seleccionado femenino? ¿Acaso no tendríamos que ser nosotras las que presentamos camiseta?— Lauchi Oliveros (@LaurinaOliveros) April 15, 2018
Former goalkeeper Pamela Visciarelli also pointed out the injustice: "It's a shame that @adidasAR and @afa are presenting the @Argentina shirt using models and not the women's team players, who have just won a place in the top 4 sides in South America in the @CAFemChile2018. So unfair. They don't deserve this", she tweeted.
Es una vergüenza que @adidasAR y @afa presenten la camiseta de la @Argentina con modelos y no con las jugadoras de #FútbolFemenino que se acaban de meter entre los 4 mejores equipos de América en la @CAFemChile2018. Cuanta injusticia. ¡No lo merecen! pic.twitter.com/VY5SIX8dVn— Pamela Visciarelli (@PamelaVis) April 15, 2018
Both tweets received large amounts of support from Twitter users.
Argentina women's players demand they are heard
After beating Colombia 3-1 the Argentina players posed for a special photo, all of them posing to demand their claims were heard.
