Keylor: Made two massive stops in the second half that redeems him from the gaff against Juventus. Solid but his place in the team remains under threat.
Lucas Vázquez: He was one of the big doubts at the start of the game as he was forced to play out of position. Kept Ribery quiet, which was his only real task.
Varane: Looked like he had to be changed after 20 minutes when he injured his leg but improved as the game went on.
Sergio Ramos: Missing for the Juventus game and got himself into a mess for Kimmich's goal. Improved as the game went on.
Marcelo: Struggled at the back and might have had a penalty called against him but put the ball on a plate for Benzema to open the scoring for los Blancos. Under pressure like most of Real Madrid's defenders.
Kovacic: Zidane's surprise in the starting eleven. He failed to make the impact that was expected of him and was replaced by Casemiro in the second half.
Kroos: Had to play a more defensive role in the absence if Casemiro but failed to inflict his style on the game. Allowed James on the ball and struggled as a defensive midfielder.
Modric: Always willing to look for the ball but struggled against Bayern's attack. One of Real Madrid's better player but still not good enough.
Asensio: He failed to inflict himself on the game and Real Madrid in general were left wanting in attack. A couple of counter attacks in which he looked dangerous but a night to forget for the winger.
Benzema: His sixth and seventh goal in 2018 could not have come at a better time. He was applauded by the Bernabeu when he was taken off in the second half. Massive performance from a player who looked like he was on his last legs at the club.
Cristiano: An island against Bayern and didn't have his first shot until the 38th minute. Nothing to report as he was very quiet all night.
