Zinedine Zidane appeared in front of the media at Valdebebas ahead of his side's game against Celta Vigo at the weekend. The French manager fielded questions about Neymar and whether or not he is compatible with Cristiano Ronaldo with more of an emphasis being placed on the Champions League final rather than the game at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.
"It's something the whole world wants," Zidane said about the Champions League. Asked if the season had gone well, Zidane replied, "It has gone the way it has gone. We started excellently, winning three titles, two at the start of the season and after, the Club World Cup. For us, it went a little worse in the Copa and in the league. We want to defend out titles in the Champions League."
"The league," he says, "is more difficult but the Champions League is the business."
The Real Madrid manager says the games won't be played any different in the remaining games in LaLiga despite the fact that the race for the title is done and dusted and there's not much else up for grabs. "We will try to do as well as we can and after, in training, we will work on some things but with the ball," he says.
When asked if his future depends on the final, Zidane says, "I don't say yes or no. What will happen is what needs to happen. I am positive, I only think about doing what I can to win. Here, what matters are results, nothing more."
When the Neymar situation was broached, Zidane was asked ih the Brazilian and Ronaldo can play on the same team. "I don't know, I am not the one who says so. I am thinking about what we have left. I'm sorry, I responded with nothing got to do with the question but that's the way it is. Next year, after the final, I will speak with the club, we will see what we can do, there will be changes. The best can always play together. One year they said to me that I was not compatible with Djorkaeff and I said, 'How stupid'. Off the field, I don't know but on the field there is chemistry between the best."
Do you know if the club are negotiating for Neymar?, he was asked. "I don't if they are speaking with Neymar. I don't think so because we are all focused on what's left. I didn't ask for Neymar because I don't get involved in these things. I am only thinking about the end of the season."
