Atlético Madrid will play in the UEFA Super Cup on 15 August against Real Madrid or Liverpool, who face each other in the Champions League final on 26 May. The Super Cup final will be played at the Lilleküla stadium in Tallinn, Estonia.
Atlético cruise past Marseille
Los Rojiblancos earned a spot in the final with a convincing 3-0 victory over Marseille in the Europa League final in Lyon. Antoine Griezmann (2) and Gabi scored the goals.
Atlético will be going in search of their third Super Cup. The LaLiga club won the competition in 2010 when Quique Sánchez Flores oversaw a 2-0 win against Rafa Benítez' Inter Milan, with José Antonio Reyes and Sergio Agüero finding the net. Atleti won the Super Cup again two years later with Diego Simeone in the dugout. On that occasion it was a pedestrian 4-0 win against Chelsea, courtesy of a Radamel Falcao hat-trick and another from Miranda.
Estonia celebrating 100 years since independence
The final is taking place in Estonia for the first time, in order to commemorate the centenary of the Baltic nation gaining independence.
The Lilleküla stadium has a capacity of just 10,000, although there are plans to increase that to 15,000 before August.
