Samuel Umtiti arrived at Barcelona as a young defender with lots of promise. His rise has been meteoric as he fulfilled lots of that promise within months of his signing. He is sure to start for France in the World Cup despite dropping off at the end of the season. The central defender shares a dressing room in the national team with Antoine Griezmann and has been doing his part to convince the player to move to the Camp Nou this summer as speculation over the Atlético Madrid attacker persists.
On his contract renewal with Barcelona that continues to be held up, Umtiti says, "Nobody has called me yet and things aren't moving forward. I'm not worried because it started a few months ago. It's important to sort this out before the World Cup."
And on Griezmann, he said "he is a fantastic player, we know his quality. In any group, he would be important. He could help us a lot."
