Atlético Madrid are reportedly eyeing up Marseille’s Florian Thauvin as a possible replacement for Antoine Griezmann. Thauvin was a key player in the Marseille team that reached the final of the Europa League last season, and a priority candidate for Atletico should Griezmann decide to leave the club in the coming days.
After months of speculation and rumours, Griezmann is set to finally announce his decision on his future before the beginning of the World Cup on June 14. Atletico are confident their French talisman will stay, and while a move to Barcelona is not off the cards, it is beginning move to look more doubtful.

But if it does happen, Atletico’s Plan B is Thauvin, who has also drawn interest from Tottenham and Inter Milan, with Marseille also keen for him to renew his contract. The 25-year-old French striker was one of the players of the season in Ligue 1. And with 26 goals and 18 assists last season, his numbers are similar to those of compatriot Griezmann (29 goals, 15 assists).
