Real Madrid won't call me, and I wouldn't go - Marcelino

DAVID GONZALEZ

DIARIO AS

Real Madrid may be after a replacement for Zinedine Zidane, but Valencia boss Marcelino isn't expecting a call, and doesn't want one either.

Zinedine Zidane's sudden resignation as Real Madrid head coach last week has left Los Blancos with an unexpected headache, as they now seek to fill a vacant position to which a whole host of names have been linked.

Right now, with a number of coaches appearing to distance themselves from the job, it feels like anyone could end up taking over from Zidane - but one man who certainly won't, it seems, is Valencia's Marcelino García Toral.

"I wouldn't go - I'm really settled here at Valencia"

"They [Real] aren't going to call me, and in any case I wouldn't go, because I'm really settled here at Valencia," the 52-year-old, who last term led Los Che to a top-four LaLiga finish in his first season at Mestalla, told Vinx on Tuesday.

Valencia boss not drawn into Rodrigo future talk

Marcelino was also asked about the possible summer departure of Rodrigo Moreno, following an impressive campaign that earned the striker a place in Spain's 2018 World Cup squad.

However, the Asturian limited himself to saying that Valencia will seek to build the best possible group of players as they prepare for their involvement in next season's Champions League.
