Achraf Hakimi has left Real Madrid to join Borussia Dortmund on loan for the next two seasons. The loan arrangement, which was confirmed by both clubs in official statements released this afternoon, has been prompted by the arrival of Álvaro Odriozola who joined recently from Real Sociedad. With Odriozola and Carvajal competing for the right-back, Achraf's chances of gaining first team action at Real Madrid have been further limited. The Morocco international will however be able to benefit from the experience of playing in the Bundesliga for the next couple of years.
Nine appearances and two goals last season
Achraf made a name for himself as progressed through Real Madrid's youth system and by 2016 he was a first choice with Castilla. He was handed his first team debut in the 2-0 home win over Espanyol in October last year and got off the mark, scoring his first goal a couple of months later against Sevilla - becoming the first Moroccan player to score for Real Madrid. He was handed his Champions League debut on MatchDay 3 against Tottenham at the Bernabéu. Despite his young age, he has starred 19 times for Morocco at full international level and played in all three of the team's group stage games at the World Cup.
