The 32-year-old defender is out of contract with Atletico Madrid in 2019 and holds a release clause of 20 million euro.

Juventus are making a concerted effort to secure Diego Godín with the potential offer of a three year deal the lure for the 32-year-old Uruguayan.

Italy's Sportitalia report that Juve's sporting director Fabio Paratici has identified the Atleti defender as a key acquisition to rear-guard for the Serie A side and the club are aware that paying the 20 million euro buy-out clause would be sufficient in securing a move from the Spanish capital to Turin.

Diego Godín is a key player for Diego Simeone and one of the club captains as well as being a motivational figure within the Metropolitano dressing room and the player will be aware that with his age, lucrative deals such as the one that the Old Lady of Italian football are preparing will be a rarity in the future.
