It’s a question which many madridistas have asked: “Why does Lopetegui always wear wraparound sunglasses during Real Madrid’s training sessions?”. The Madrid coach is never seen without his prescription sunglasses when the sun is out and while his look might make him appear like one of the Men in Black, it’s actually due to a minor problem with his vision. For medical reasons, he needs to protect his eyes from the sun’s UVA rays.
Gotta wear shades
For Sergio Ramos, Isco and the rest of Madrid’s Spanish internationals, it’s nothing new - Lopetegui also wore his sunglasses during his time with the national team and is used to explaining why he has to wear them to new players. In Miami, he is at high risk of exposure to UVA, especially in July – even when it rains. That’s why it was a bit surprising to see Lopetegui, soaking wet but still with his sunglasses on while it poured down during a thunderstorm in Sunday’s session, the squad’s first in Miami.
