The 20-year-old was on the books at Barça and signed for Getafe last month but the Bernabéu board picked him up for a place at Castilla.

Real Madrid have signed Ayoub Abou on a free transfer from Getafe, who the Moroccan midfielder joined only last month from Rayo Majadahonda.

The 20-year-old will join Castilla initially after a breakthrough season with the Segunda B side last term, where he played 31 times as the outfit from the Madrid suburbs earned promotion to Segunda División for the first time in the club’s history.

Getafe and Real Madrid agree free transfer for Ayoub

Majadahonda had expressed an interest in retaining Ayoub’s services and Albacete were also interested before he agreed a deal to join Getafe. The Azulones had planned to loan Ayoub to a Segunda side for the 2018-19 campaign but reached an agreement with Madrid on a free transfer to Castilla with the player rescinding his contract with the club, who have traditionally enjoyed a fruitful transfer understanding with their neighbours in the Spanish capital.

Ayoub was a regular in Antonio Iriondo’s side last season and can operate as a central midfielder or in a more attacking role. He started his career at Barcelona but was forced to leave due to the club’s issues with Fifa on the signing of youth players and moved to the Porto academy, where he played in the Uefa Youth League.

The Casablanca-born midfielder is Castilla’s second signing of the summer from Majadahonda and will join striker Jorge De Frutos under Madrid’s reserve team coach Santiago Solari.
