Real Madrid unveiled their third strip for the 2018-19 season on Monday, the result of a partnership between kit suppliers Adidas and Parley for the Oceans, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness about plastic pollution in the world’s seas.
The shirt will be of a coral colour and made entirely of Parley Ocean Plastic, a composite of recycled materials.
Marcelo, Nacho, Lucas Vázquez and Karim Benzema were selected to model the new strip, which had a test run the season before last when Real used Parley Ocean Plastic shirts during a game against Sporting Gijón on November 26, 2016.
Real are the latest side to adopt sustainable shirts for their kit as the movement to raise awareness of the issues facing marine life gather pace. Last season Barcelona also used a recycled shirt and Bayern Munich sported an Adidas-Parley kit during a game against Hoffenheim last November.
