Fifa's Disciplinary Committee's released a statement defining what rule Atlético Madrid broke and how much the Spanish side would be fined.

Fifa's Disciplinary Committee have fined Atlético Madrid 46,200 euros for "entering into a contract that enabled a third party to influence the club’s independence in employment and transfer-related matters".

Atlético Madrid were banned for two transfer windows recently for falling foul of Fifa's rules on signing underage players althought the relative size of this fine is insignificant compared to the impact the ban had on their progress as one of Europe's elites.

"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the club Atletico de Madrid, Spain, with a fine of CHF 52,500 and a warning for breaching art. 18bis of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (2014 edition), as well as Annexe 3 of said regulations," Fifa's official disciplinary statement read.

"The club was found to be liable for entering into a contract that enabled a third party to influence the club’s independence in employment and transfer-related matters and entering incorrect information in the International Transfer Matching System (ITMS)."
