Luis Enrique: "Ramos? I didn't speak to anybody, that's my style"
Luis Enrique gave his first press conference as the manager of Spain's national side and refused to speak about the absence of Koke or Jordi Alba.
Luis Enrique spoke to the press after announcing his first 24-man squad having taken over the Spanish national team after the World Cup. They will play England and Croatia during the upcoming international break.
Absence of Koke: "It's a special day to give the first squad list. I have dedicated many hours to get to know player deeply. I understand the interest, but I will speak about the ones that are in. Those that are not, I have my reasons that they are not here."
Isco's spot: "There are players that can play midfield and in attack. He is one of them. He is very complete, he can play on th wing, up top, be one inside. His style is benificial. He is decisive, he can score goals, go by players, gives the final pass...he is a very complete player."
Jordi Alba: "I'll only speak about the ones called up. I already said there would be surprises. I don't have anything to say, neither positibe or negative about those who are not here."
Conversation with Ramos: "I have spoke to any player, aside from Piqué, just to clarify that. That's my style. I haven't said he's just another player. He's the captain. The one with the second most games played. I am hopeing to see everyone and set out our course of action."
Casillas: "He's in play and I don't rule out anyone."
Style: "It will be the same regarding possession and to carry the weight of games. But there has to be nuances put in. If we compare ourselves to the best national team that we have seen, maybe we will be inferior in something, but you have to compare with the current national teams. The word is evolution."
Diego Costa and his adaption: "I see him well. Both himself and Morata can perform. Morata has a different profile. He didn't finish the season at his best but now I see an improvement."
