A round-up of all the latest news in and around the Santiago Bernabeu in the week that sees the start of the Champions League group stage.

A key week for Real Madrid as "Los Blancos" begin the defence of their Champions League throne with the start of the 2018/19 season group stage.

6 games in 18 days   

Following last week's international break, the pace of the new season picks up with games coming think and fast in both domestic competition and the start of the group stage of the Champions League. Lopetegui's men face a demanding six games in the space of 18 days: 

19.09: vs AS Roma (Champions League)

22.09: vs RCD Espanyol (LaLiga)

26.09: vs Sevilla (LaLiga)

29.09: vs Atletico Madrid (LaLiga)

02.10: vs CSKA Moscow (Champions League)

06.10: vs. Alaves (LaLiga)

Castilla win with Vinicus on target again  

In front of 2.000 fans at the Alfredo De Stefano, RM Castilla got back to winning ways with a comfortable win against Segunda B newcomers Unionistas de Salamanca (the fan run club from the Castilla y Leon city) formed following the dissolution of UD Salamanca. A double from Cristo and another goal from Brazilian teenager were enough for Solari's men to claim maximum points and move into fourth place in the standings.

AS Roma draw 

Real Madrid's Champions League midweek opponents AS Roma maintained their stuttering start in Serie A managing only a 2-2 draw at home to Chevio Verona. Despite taking a 2-0 lead into the interval, goals from Birsa and a late equaliser from Stepinski ensured a sharing of the points which saw many disgruntled Romanisti leave the Stadio Olimpico venting their ire at club president Pallotta.

New Bernabeu

Real Madrid stage their AGM next Sunday and it's anticipated that club president Florentino Perez will go into detail explaining the plans for a new redesigned Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Early indications suggest the club have allocated a sum of 400 million euro for redevelopment work on the ground.

Any fans hoping to catch the match-day action at the Bernabeu on Wednesday will need to hurry with less than 4.000 tickets still available with prices starting at 75 euro.
