Ticket demand sees CSKA-Real Madrid moved to Luzhniki

The Champions League fixture in Moscow was originally planned to go ahead at CSKA's home Veb Arena but demand sees it shifted to the bigger Luzhniki.

Real Madrid are set to face CSKA Moscow next week in match-day two of the 2018/19 Champions League group stage. The tie will now be played at the 81,500 capacity Luzhniki stadium having being moved from the army team's smaller recently reconstructed Veb Arena

Demand in the Russian capital to see the game has seen the Russian side confirm that venue that recently hosted the 2018 World Cup final where France overcame Croatia will be the venue for the match with the Luzhniki boasting a capacity of more than 30,000 compared to the Veb.

Madrid have previously played at the iconic Luzhniki on one occasion during the 11-12 campaign with José Mourinho on the Madrid bench. The game was played in freezing conditions an a purely synthetic pitch ending in a 1-1 draw. The surface has been modified since them and now features 95% natural grass and 5% synthetic fibres.
