The LaLiga president took to his Twitter account to apologise after "God Save the Queen" was roundly booed and whistled ahead of the Spain-England game.

Last night's UEFA Nations League game between Spain and England at the Estadio Benito Villamarín marked the first defeat for Luis Enrique in his reign as Spain manager.

Ahead of the game when the English national anthem "God Save the Queen" was played, many of the fans at the ground whistled and booed as the anthem was played over the stadium tannoy system.

President of LaLiga Javier Tebas was troubled about what he witnessed and took to Twitter to apologise to the English fans for the treatment of the anthem. "National anthems represent the noblest and most profound feelings of many people. They must always be respected. We have to apologize to the English and make that what happened yesterday doesn't happen again".
