The alarm bells are ringing at the Bernabéu after Marcelo had to go off injured close to the end of the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Viktoria Plzen. The injury happened during a Real Madrid move in their own half, on the left wing. Marcelo was in possession when Ekpai challenged him, leaving the left back on the turf in pain. Lopetegui confirmed in his press conference that Marcelo had not suffered a muscle strain or tear, unlike in his most recent injuries.
Barcelona v Real Madrid on Sunday at 16:15
Marcelo was able to hobble off and watched the rest of the match from the bench, with ice on his right leg. It's now a matter of time to see if Marcelo will be fit for the Clásico this Sunday at the Camp Nou (16:15), or if, like a certain other famous left-footer, he'll be out injured.
