Rodrygo is more mature player than Vinicius, says Brazil coach Tite

In an interview with Globoesporte, Tite has opened up about Rodrygo and Vinicius.

Rodrygo is more mature player than Vinicius, says Brazil coach Tite

Brazil coach Tite has given has given opinion about Rodrygo and Vinicius, the two Brazilian teenagers that cost Real Madrid a total of 85 million euros. Vinicius came to Madrid this summer from Flamengo at a cost 40 million euros; while 45-million-euro Rodrygo is set to make the move from Santos next summer.

In an interview with Globobesporte, Tite said he feels that Rodrygo is more prepared for high-level football, despite being six months younger than Vinicius.

When asked about calling up Vinicius to the Brazil national team, Tite said he has considered it, but also spoke about the 18-year-old’s shortcomings. “He left Flamengo and was adapting and training with Real Madrid’s first team, although without playing, so it was a difficult period,” said Tite.

“I spoke with Carlos Amadeu (Brazil U-20 coach) and he said: 'Vinicius has an incredible ability to attract the media. He is extremely simple and calm at work. But he fascinates the media.’ He is a great dribbler – a lot of one on one – but he lacks a little lucidity.”

That lucidity, Tite believes, is not missing from Rodrygo: "Rodrygo has an impressive lucidity. Jair Ventura (Corinthians coach) told me that he is like a veteran, that he's mature in decision making. He gets between the lines, holds the ball, changes direction, if they give him space, he dribbles.

“It's amazing how he makes decisions, his mental game is that of a player of 25. But he does not have physical strength yet. Vinicius does, although he's more individualistic. But he seems to have a good head, he knows how to listen and evolve."
