According to both Reuters and AFP, the Spanish Football Federation have confirmed that Real Madrid have hired the Argentine coach on a long-term contract.

Pending an official statement from the club, Santiago Solari is now Real Madrid's coach on a permanent basis. Two weeks after announcing the Argentine coach would be taking over as caretaker manager, Real Madrid had until today's deadline to find a permanent for the coaching position. According to Reuters and AFP, the Spanish Football Federation have received Solari's full-time contract, which means he will continue at the helm until the end of the season.

"Everything's in order, Real Madrid have submitted his contract and there's no problem", RFEF sources told AFP. The only aspect which has yet to be revealed is whether Solari will continue until the end of the season - or for longer as Jugones claim.

According to Jugones presenter Josep Pedrerol, the club have complete in the man who been the team's interim coach for the past two weeks and are set to confirm that he will continue in the post until the end of the season - and the next. Madrid will offer Solari a contract until June 2020. An official announcement is expected this week.

Great start

Solari could not have had a much better start to the job - in the four games he has overseen, the team has posted four wins and only conceded in yesterday's game against Celta. The overall balance is 15 goals for and just two against - it's the best start any Madrid coach has enjoyed in the club's 116-year history.

Players such as Lucas Vázquez and Álvaro Odriozola have publicly voiced their hopes that the Argentine coach will continue in the post at least until the end of the season while Emilio Butragueño, who didn't confirm that Solari will remain in the job, did admit that the club is "very happy with him".

Europa Press cite a club source as saying: "It's true that we initially stated that Santiago Solari would take over the coaching position in a provisional capacity after Julen's departure but the club is very happy with his performance and he will continue. We are not considering signing another coach".
