14 year sentence handed to Borussia bus bomber
29-year-old Serguei Wenergold was found guilty of detonating an explosive device in 2017 as the Dortmund team bus drove towards Signal Iduna park.
The perpetrator behind the Borussia Dortmund bomb attack in 2017 has been condemned to a 14 year prison sentence after being found guilty convicted of 28 counts of attempted murder.
29-year-old Serguei Wenergold had planned to make money out of the bombing by betting on a fall in Borussia Dortmund's stock market price following the incident.
The event took place as Dortmund made their way to their Signal Iduna Park ground to face AS Monaco in the 2016/17 Champions League quarter final and resulted with Spanish player Marc Batra suffering a fractured wrist.
