The Russians needed all three points to head to the Bernabéu for the final game with a chance of heading into the knock-out phase, but failed to manage even a draw leaving them on four points from five games, while Real Madrid and Roma were both on nine points ahead of tonight’s match.

Roma and Real Madrid were already through then, with the game in Rome on Tuesday evening decisive only in the race for top spot in the group. Real Madrid's 0-2 win means they they are guaranteed to finish top the group having beaten Roma both home and away.
